Day Ten: Friday, 14th May 2021

After the flurry of the previous days, we looked forward to a restful morning at Punamii-unpuu - Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge. We slept in until the 7:30 am breakfast call, took a leisurely meal with good coffee, then found a delightful little frog waiting to clean its teech.

Some of us strolled along the camp paths, seeing, hearing, and investigating as we went. Unfortunately, most of the mammals in this region are nocturnal (so no photos!), the birds are too fleet of wing (so no photos!), the insects are too secretive (so no photos!), and the reptiles are too sensitive (so no photos!)!

Can you see the strands of webb stretched across the creek?

Water grass/weed of some type?

Greg pondering!

Some of the ladies playing Scrabble!

Split into two groups, we bounced in a ten-seater bus to the Mitchell Plateau airstrip, then flew in four small planes to the Drysdale Station airstrip.

More burn-offs!

Unknown watercourse!

Smoke haze covers the land!

Another unknown watercourse! Savanna woodland!

Having landed, we boarded our replacement bus and rode to Drysdale Station, recovered our bags, moved into comfortable accommodation, gathered for a relished dinner, then enjoyed a pleasant evening around the table, and, finally, bed at 9:30 pm.
